kapote loves the funk. and he loves blaxploitation movies. the black underground cinema from the 1970ies. kapote samples dirty talk from these movies and puts it on his bass lines. melodic basslines with a heavy 1070 funk vibe. bass lines that can create a sexual tension. kapote adds a few warm, jazzy rhodes piano chords and a lot of reverbs and filtering. and the music rolls. often more like a jam then like a constructed piece of music. in the highest points this music is pure endorphin. it s 4 to the floor - but it has a soulful analogue sound. kapote says he was listening to records from old detroit label red planet and parisian downtempo pioneers motorbass and la funk mob while making this record. and yes, the vibe is there. like these guys kapote likes to build his musical trips around snippets from old funk vinyl. adding beats with vintage drum machines and creating an eclectic trip into a universe full of jazzy bits, noisy drums and dirty samples.

commonly found steering his own nabuco label, noha slides over to constant black (sub label of constant sound) to round out a very productive 2016 with another round of on-point deep house cuts sprinkled with immersive techy leanings. -hamal- may have a stout rhythm section at its core, but the layers of synths and processing on top all speak to a tripped out dubby mindstate, while -palette- only reaches further out into wistful 4/4 territory. there s still a crucial clubby mentality powering this ep though, and the reduced hypnotism of -annabanana- taps into this perfectly before the live drum workout -discovery-. vinyl only release

...aaaand we’re back. it’s taken us a little longer than it should have to get this third release together, but oh my was it worth the wait. we’ve rounded up a few of our favourite oddballs to construct the first 2sox compilation release, aptly titled “oddsox vol. 1”.

the two french friends, siler & dima , have collaborated on phonogramme imprint to present you their 2nd release « friends chip » ep. a first release almost 2 years ago on their own label, popcorn records, siler & dima , took a little break from producing. when the two of them finally got back in the studio, they were unsure exactly what would result, but both wanted a return to their background and the music they like to work together. a music based on sampling, with a melting pot of jazzy & funk soul influences, from moodymann to gil scott heron or donny hataway. the result is here, with 3 groovy tunes, with a strong jazz touch, influenced downbeat of the 90’s. this friends chip release is also the fruit of several collaborations. in « the hunters » you can easily recognize the unique and sexy voice of chez damier, a key influence of the french duo. in “memoory” ,the young & talented paul cut brought his keyboard science , and le loup, one of the main highlight of the french scene, appears on the last track, « willie hutch”. to bring his music knowledge and groove to the original. the result is a beautiful ep truly “friendship”

the lp “the world is shit” is a radical and depressing statement by sebastian reuschel looking at the world, the society and the people living in those. a-side track “exav 2b” is a warm and deep industrial ambient track which starts rough and noisy but culminates in a rolling and dark atmosphere. “dying alone” – the b-side track – is a sample based rolling noise dream of suicide and total apocalypse.

‘consistency’, the second lp from the berlin-based techno artist. the 11 track release follows 2014’s ‘en route’ and will be released on heiko laux’s label kanzleramt, a label with which kajioka has worked with closely for over a decade. consistency lp bears all the marks of a kajioka release: a collection of deep, driving, groove-laden and synth-focused cuts. heady grooves which leave little question why ray kajioka is held in such high regard among techno veterans, called upon regularly for remix honours by the the likes of heiko laux, joel mull, pan-pot, elbee bad, alexander kowalski and marc romboy, to name but a few. kajioka’s reputation for faultless production remains consistent on this, his sophomore lp. the full, extended physical release of consistency contains 3 vinyl disks: 2 x 12” lp disks plus a free, bonus 12”.

after the previous collaborations with blawan and lucretio & marieu (aka the analogue cops), mannella is back with his first solo work -nebula viator-. there’s no definitive recipe for his individual productions, but you can usually expect varying amounts of evolving pads, nostalgic rhythm and structured drums change that give to his productions a rich hot surge. in this four track ep mannella is going back to his roots and main influences, showing us how essential is for him shaping them into his latest feeling: swaggering techno tracks powered by sleek house chords. nebula viator is a 24minutes ep crammed with slamming and chubby grooves set against a sprawling astral substrate..
